The Government of Bihar, through BRLPS under the Rural Development Department, implements JEEViKA to promote social and economic empowerment of the rural poor.
Implementing NRLM in Bihar
After SGSY was restructured into the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), the Government of Bihar designated BRLPS as the State Rural Livelihoods Mission to implement NRLM in the state, building on JEEViKA's experience.
A participatory long-term plan
The State Perspective and Implementation Plan (SPIP) was prepared through extensive stakeholder consultations and approved by the State Cabinet to guide long-term implementation of NRLM in Bihar.

The SPIP aims to reduce poverty by enabling poor households to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment through strong grassroots institutions of the poor.
